One of my daughter's professors, a man from New York, once quipped to her class that the most dangerous place on earth was to stand between Chuck Shumer and a TV camera. Why he did this is obvious: to garner attention for himself.

Now, having noticed him, my recommendation to Charles Schumer is to write a letter to the bank regulators outlining your intention to check into a motel with a barnyard animal at a specified future date.

[...] Senator Schumer, you allegedly sought to prevent IndyMac Bank from failing by publicly suggesting it might fail. Of course, as a result of your actions, the bank failed and you don’t seem to concerned about it. It’s hard to believe you are so naive that you didn’t understand the ramifications your actions would have. So, the question is: Are You Incompetant or did you do it deliberately? And if so, why? An investigation is in order.
[...] Perhaps the only thing worse than the fact that Senator Chuck Schumer caused a run on deposits that led to a historical bank failure is the lack of accountability and arrogance the senator has displayed after the fact. According to the AP: “The breadth and depth of the problems of IndyMac were created and apparent for years and they accelerated in the last six months,” Schumer said.
[...] Try and reconcile this with their other talking point, that there are plenty of ”unused leases” where the oil companies could drill for oil but for some reason, they just don’t want to. If Democrats like Boxer are to be believed, rather than drill in the U.S., oil companies prefer to drill in places like Nigeria amidst frequent militant violence a greedy government trying to seize more of their profits (okay, the last points isn’t too different from our Democrat congress).
[...] This is much different than what Democrats were advocating and, in fact, it’s the exact opposite of the plan laid out in Barack Obama’s Iraq War De-escalation Act. Obama wanted the forces out regardless of Iraq’s circumstances — they were in the middle of a civil war! In addition, Obama’s plan called for the withdrawal to be suspended if benchmarks were met. So troops would leave if the situation remained unstable and they would only stay if things improved. Obama’s plan was a threat to the Iraqi government to force them to take responsibility of their own country, irrespective of whether or not they were strong enough and ready. [...]

Wow. It's a good thing you're focused on this or we might have to talk about things like the economy or the Iraq War. But, you're right, talking about those things would only hang a light on the ineptitude that is McCain. So, tell me again... what kind of shoes was she wearing at the opening? Really? Noooo waaay.

[...] Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama said Republicans will try to make voters fear him because of his inexperience (and his race, but that’s another issue). Why Obama considers his lack of experience a cheap shot is mind-boggling, but I digress. Turns out there’s a much more urgent need to be worried about an Obama presidency: policies — at least as far as our allies are concerned.
[...] Obama keeps giving our enemies reasons to cheer and our allies reasons to worry. He’s promising pow-wows with Chavez, Kim Jong-Il, and the leadership of Cuba and Iran. Hamas once voiced their preference for him as well as Moqtada al-Sadr’s Sadr movement. Meanwhile Obama has spooked the Canadians with his anti-NAFTA tirades and calls for unilateral revisions and has the Europeans concerned about free trade as well. He’s threatened to ditch trade deals with South Korea and Columbia and revisit others.
