Damn.

Congratulations to Barack Obama. Now we’ll wait with bated breath to see which of his positions were real and which were just “over-heated rhetoric.”

There are two bright sides to look at. First, Obama and the Democrats cannot hide behind Bush hatred anymore. With power comes responsibility and all the responsibility — and blame — now lies with them. It’s begun already. An AP headlined this morning declares “Stocks fall as investors ponder Obama presidency“:

A case of post-election nerves sent stocks lower Wednesday as investors worried about recession began questioning what impact a Barack Obama presidency will have on business and the overall economy. The Dow Jones industrials dropped more than 300 points and the major indexes all fell more than 3 percent.

The second positive note: The Republicans lost their way under George W. Bush, increasing the size of government and spending like drunken Democrats. At least now Republicans have a chance to rebuild their brand around the principles of limited government that brought them to power in the first place.
