News Media Perform Civic Duty By Speaking Truth to Plumber

In case you had any problems keeping track of which issues matter and which issues are just a distraction from the issues people care about, let us break it down for you. First, the petty distractions:

1. Whether or not Barack Obama’s campaign helped fund ACORN’s election fraud
2. Whether or not Obama’s campaign is knowingly accepting illegal donations from foreigners
3. The depth and length of Senator Obama’s working relationship with an unrepentant terrorist
4. Obama’s record of funding radical leftist education programs over basic reading an math
5. Whether or not Barack Obama subscribes to black liberation theology and the teachings of Reverend Wright
6. The extent of Obama’s dealings with Tony Rezko
7. The long list of Obama’s broken campaign promises

None of these issues matter and voters should not be distracted by them. Instead, voters should focus on what truly matters in this election (at least if the press is any guide): Whether or not Joe the Plumber’s paperwork is in order. Joe dared stand in a rope line and when called upon, ask Barack Obama a question that led the candidate to unwittingly reveal his Marxist tendencies. Now we must know everything about Joe. And, thankfully, the press is hard at work digging up the juiciest dirt.

God help us if anything should ever happen to the fourth estate. They’re doing such a noble job of protecting everyday Americans from being squashed by the heel of power. Just ask Joe.

Update: Patterico reveals the fact that Obama’s campaign treasurer has a tax lien, but that’s just yet another distraction from the important issues people care about. Like whether or not Joe the Plumber is naturally bald or shaves his head because he likes the look.
