Jim DeMint Contrasts Obama and Palin on Earmarks
by Heywood U. Reedmore -- September 10, 2008 at 12:08 pm | In 2008 Election | 1 CommentIn an Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal, Senator Jim DeMint compares the record between Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden to Governor Sarah Palin on earmarks. It’s a solid rebuke to the weak attacks coming from camp Obama. Here’s the money graph recounting how Obama and Biden chose the “Bridge to Nowhere” over victims of Hurricane Katrina.
When the Senate had its chance to stop the Bridge to Nowhere and transfer the money to Katrina rebuilding, Messrs. Obama and Biden voted for the $223 million earmark, siding with the old boys’ club in the Senate. And to date, they still have not publicly renounced their support for the infamous earmark.
Obama claims Palin has changed her position on earmarks. More accurately, she changed the earmarking habits of an entire state.
