Intrade: Odds Biden Will Be Dropped As VP Increase

The Democrats strongly pushed the “Eagleton meme” that Governor Sarah Palin would be dropped from the Republican ticket and several in the press were more than happy to carry their water.

Ever since the question of Joe Biden withdrawing from the Democrat ticket showed up on Intrade, we’ve been having some fun with the turn this story has taken. Today, the odds on Intrade that Biden will be withdrawn shot up nearly 50% catapulting him over Palin by almost 23%.

What happened? Did perhaps the media take a break from trying to dig up dirt on Sarah Palin and her kids and unveil some dirt on Biden? Unlikely. More likely it had something to do with the fact that Joe insinuated Obama blew the decision and should have chosen Hillary Clinton instead of him.

So much for Obama’s judgment. Allahpundit asks:

If Palin aces the Charlie Gibson interview and McCain bounces out to, say, an eight-point lead, does Obama decide that Biden needs to spend more time with his family, swap in Her Majesty, and launch the gender politics clusterfark to end all clusterfarks?

Fun to speculate, but I don’t see how that’s possible. The Dems made a huge stink about how McCain’s decision to pick Palin as his Veep showed a lack of judgment. It was the whole point to pushing the Eagleton meme in the first place and why, recognizing the threat she posed, they tried to scare the Republicans into dropping her. If Obama scuttled Biden and brought Clinton aboard to save his sinking ship it would make their attempt to “Eagleton” Palin the boomerang of all boomerangs.
