“Send It to Sully. He’ll Print Anything.”

The latest conspiracy theory on Daily Kos tries to connect Sarah Palin to al Qaeda. Whatever, right? Crazies will be crazies. Only the last time a baseless rumor like this popped up on the Daily Kos, it made it’s way to Atlantic.com courtesy of Andrew Sullivan.

In that case, a blogger speculated that since s/he saw a photo where Palin didn’t look pregnant, maybe she was never pregnant but was faking it to cover for her daughter who — “suspiciously” — missed some school because of mono. That might be strong enough to end up in a Michael Moore movie, but certainly not The Atlantic, right? Wrong. Sully bought in so thoroughly he began demanding Palin release her medical records to prove her baby was actually hers and not her daughter’s.

The Weekly Standard has already noted that Sully seems to be behind at least some of the anti-Palin smears out there. The question is, where is he getting his leads? Look at this comment posted on the thread for the story described above:

The nutroots know where to go to spread their garbage. It appears, when conspiracy theorists want to go viral, Sully is the first person they think of.
