A Question of Judgement

The media (doing the dirty work of the Obama campaign) is questioning John McCain’s judgment for appointing a relative unknown to his ticket. With each minor revelation, they argue that it shows Governor Palin was not properly vetted and therefore, McCain’s choice was reckless.

But who’s really been reckless in all this? Alan Colmes has questioned her prenatal care, CNN and Atlantic.com gave voice to a baseless rumor that Sarah Palin’s baby Trig is not really hers (Andrew Sullivan even went so far as to repeatedly demand she provide her medical records to disprove it); they turned her daughter’s pregnancy into a political football and now, apparently, ABC and the NY Times have erroneously reported on Palin’s membership in the Alaska Independence Party.

The early results are in and, so far, it’s the media’s judgment that is lacking.
