Obama: Cheney Energy Bill Was the Largest Investment in Alternative Energy in History

Don’t be too surprised that Obama admitted this. After all, he had to explain why he voted for it.

The problem with Obama’s energy plan (PDF) is that almost all of the emphasis is on taxation, regulation, and mandates. He includes a cheap ploy to buy votes with rebates — but you can’t power a truck on rebates. He has very little to say about actual energy production. He promises to invest in clean technology and alternative energy, but at the expense of — in fact, while punishing — proven technologies. We don’t have enough energy to meet current demand, much less future demand. Replacing coal and oil with “green” energy doesn’t solve that problem. Obama’s pushing an environmental policy, not an energy plan.
