NY Times Editorial Board Slanders McCain Camp
by Heywood U. Reedmore -- July 31, 2008 at 4:44 pm | In 2008 Election | No CommentsWow. There is no excuse for this slanderous tripe. In their attempt to defend Obama’s blatantly tasteless use of the race card, the NY Times tries to claim that Obama’s comment was a response to McCain’s latest ad comparing Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. I guess one shouldn’t expect the Times to actually look up the facts before they spew, but considering Obama first made this charge over a month ago… how exactly was it a reaction to something that just happened? Second, I know it’s been a while since the Times has made any money, but they might want to borrow a few bucks and look them over. Because Britney and Paris don’t look like anyone on our currency either.
But the Times’ shamelessness doesn’t end there. They go on to charge that comparing Obama to young, white women is in itself racist. I’m not quite sure what point the Times is trying to make about people who are young, white and female, but it sure doesn’t sound like a compliment. Perhaps they’d be willing to explain themselves.
Lastly, the Times charges that because the McCain camp said Obama played the race card from the bottom of the deck, they were comparing Obama to O.J. Simpson since one of his defense attorneys once made that comment. For the record, the only one to actually compare Obama to O.J. was Jesse Jackson Jr. — who’s on Obama’s campaign. After Obama won Iowa, Jackson, Jr. had this to say:
“The natural reminder here is O.J. — how does an African American candidate attack a white woman?”
Further proof that the only campaign making tasteless comments about Barack Obama’s race is the Obama campaign itself.
Hat Tip: Hot Air.
