Are You Freakin’ Kidding Me?!

Apparently certain people want our military bases in Iraq to be as PC as a college campus.

Hot Air and LGF have coverage on the “Hadji Girl” home movie (calling it a “video” makes it sound professionally done. This was a home movie). Confederate Yankee has the lyrics. The way this is being portrayed in the media is enough to make you vomit.

The song in question, “Hadji Girl” is about a marine in Iraq who comes under enemy fire. He takes cover in “everyone’s favorite Burger King” where he meets a young Iraqi woman and falls in “love at first sight.” She takes him to meet her parents and when she throws open the door to her family’s home, the Marine is ambushed. The woman’s father and brother pull out their AKs. The Marine grabs the little sister and pulls her in front of him and they shoot her instead of him. He then takes cover behind the TV, locks and loads his weapon and kills them all.

The fact that the refrain is taken from Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s “Team America: World Police” clearly shows this is a joke. It’s also a joke about the kind of enemy our soldiers face in Iraq, where terrorists send children out to do their intel and, as the song suggests, even a date could put you in a life or death situation.

But the press wants us to believe this is a song about Marines reveling in the death of “innocents.”

Here’s what the AP had to say under the sloppy title: “Video on Marine killing Iraqis draws ire

The singer is shown playing a guitar and singing about meeting an Iraqi woman and then being confronted by her brother and father, who have guns. The lyrics describe the Marine pulling the woman’s little sister in front of him and watching blood spray from her head.

Here’s the BBC’s version: ‘Kill Iraqis marine song’ probe:

Dressed in a green T-shirt and military style trousers and boots, a man sings: “I grabbed her little sister and put her in front of me. As the bullets began to fly, the blood sprayed from between her eyes, and then I laughed maniacally.”

But the BBC has to one up the AP so they added this touch:

“The lyrics caught on video refer to the shooting of Iraqi civilians, especially children.”

What’s so disgusting about these write-ups is that they deliberately exclude the context — that this was an ambush! Clearly, they want it to appear as offensive as possible. Also, in both cases, the press tried to tie this story to Haditha. Hot Air has the Reuters version which is no better.

The only person who could fit the BBC’s “especially children” line is the “younger sister.” How the BBC is so sure this sister isn’t 18 is beyond me. There’s also only one of her, so while they’re at it, they should explain how she became “children.”

But what’s really disgusting is that the anti-war press seems to be suggesting that our Marines should be condemned for celebrating a fictional story of how one of them thwarted an attempt on his life. To them, apparently, being ambushed and killing your attackers is the same as Haditha. Of course, they might be right. We are still waiting for all the facts on Haditha.

  1. Typical mainstream media taking a negative story and expoiting it. It’s not even a real story. It’s a little insensitive, yes, but so what. Get over it.

I will say that the majority of people in the anti-war movement are not condemning the Marines. The anti-war movement really has the same goal as the right…for the safe return of our troops.

  2. Your point is well taken. In fact, the “anti-war movement” hasn’t come out on this (yet), so I edited the line to read “anti-war press” which is more accurate for this story.
