Hollywood Mansions Cause Global Warming?
by Heywood U. Reedmore -- May 29, 2006 at 2:48 am | In No, Seriously | No CommentsLast Friday’s Vent over at Hot Air took aim at gas-guzzling liberals who claim to be green. But while Michelle Malkin highlighted their penchant for SUVs and jets, their houses are an equally rich target. According to Al Gore himself, “More global-warming pollution comes from houses and buildings than from cars and trucks.”
It makes you wonder what those palatial Hollywood mansions with vaulted ceilings and heated swimming pools are costing the environment. It also makes you wonder if the light-green celebs are really out to save Mother Earth, or just get a little publicity for themselves. And then again, perhaps they just have no idea what they’re talking about.
Nancy Pelosi’s “Bring It On” Moment
by Heywood U. Reedmore -- May 27, 2006 at 9:12 pm | In No, Seriously | No CommentsLast week President Bush said he regretted telling the insurgents in Iraq to “bring it on” and that his tough talk like “dead or alive” sent the wrong signal to people. But while Bush says he has learned to express himself in a more “sophisticated” manner, it appears Dems have learned the opposite.
In the latest issue of The New Yorker, Jeffrey Goldberg writes:
Even the most liberal Democratic officeholders recognize the need to speak to security-conscious voters in ways that will separate them from Republicans. Nanci Pelosi made a game attempt at ferocity when I talked with her … ”I always say to people, ‘Think lioness.’ This is how Democrats are. You threaten our children—and that’s America—you threaten our country, you’re dead. You’re dead.”
Dems criticized Bush’s for being a shoot-from-the-hip cowboy. Now apparently they’re tommy-gun-carrying mobsters channeling Robet De Niro’s Al Capone.
A Little Help for John McCain
by Heywood U. Reedmore -- May 26, 2006 at 3:40 am | In No, Seriously | No CommentsDear Senator McCain,
Sorry to hear about your recent commonsense deficiency. Please allow me to help. The amendment you’re wrestling with addresses people who have broken the law. If these people paid social security taxes, as you claim, that means they were using some else’s stolen social security number. This is a crime. It’s not only identity theft, but also fraud. And it hurts people. Nice people who also pay their taxes. Passing a law that legalizes the right for these identity thieves to work, does not erase their crimes or the damage they did. The “double standard” you cite, is not based on race as you insinuate. It’s based on criminal record. Since we’re using exagerated metaphors, let me explain it like this: it’s kind of like how if a woman murders her husband, she can’t collect the life insurance. See… because you don’t want to encourage people to kill their spouses. That’d be bad.
And one more thing: please keep in mind that considering the average income of an illegal immigrant, if you allow them to claim the EIC, their path to citizenship will not include paying back taxes, but rather collecting thousands in back refunds.
p.s. I should also warn you that it’s kind of racist to insinuate that illegal immigrants take public transportation like buses. You know they do drive cars. Just ask Gray Davis. He was going to give them licenses.
