Saddam Hussein Defends Democrats, Says He Feels
Their Pain
by Heywood U. Reedmore

    Spolitics.com has obtained,
    in its entirety, an original
    draft of the letter Saddam
    Hussein wrote to the
    American people. According
    to our  translated version of
    the letter, Saddam showed a
    stronger sense of solidarity
    with the Democrats than
    was depicted by the
    mainstream media.

In our version, Saddam explicitly offers his support to the Democrats
saying they, and only they, are capable of turning the country into the
type of American the rest of the world wants to see.

Saddam also goes on at length telling the Democrats that they have to
stand up to the Republican attack machine.

According to the former Iraqi dictator, the Democrats are the victims
of the same wordplay tactics that Republicans used against him in
1991. Hussein was referring to the way Republicans are characterizing
the Democrats’ calls for re-deploying troops from Iraq a “withdrawal.”
Saddam points out that first President Bush did the same thing to him
during the first Gulf War.

"I feel your pain," wrote
Saddam. "I went through
the same thing in 1991.
People said I withdrew
from Iraq, that my army
was defeated. These are
lies. We were not defeat-
ed. I simply chose to re-
deploy my troops to with-
in the Iraqi border for
tactical reasons. It was
the Americans who chose
to quit fighting.

"
I explained this in my interview with Dan Rather in 2003," Saddam
continued. "And I say to you, Democrats of America, if you were to re-
deploy your troops to Okinawa, it would be no more a defeat than my
re-deployment was a defeat in 1991.”

Saddam was apparently referencing the
Murtha Doctrine,
Representative John Murtha’s plan to fight the war in Iraq out of
Okinawa. Murtha could not be reached for comment on Saddam's
endorsement of his military strategy.

Saddam to Democrats: I feel your pain
Saddam says he redeployed his troops
in 1991. He did not withdraw.
